Golf 2008
Dr. Rob Neal Karen Harrison Bobby Cole Rick Rhoads
Starting in 2004 under the direction of Dr. Rob Neal and Karen Harrison with GOLF BIODYNAMICS their team was assigned the task of plotting an individual golf training program for me. In our 4th year the team at GOLF BIODYNAMICS adjusted our integrated program to include a wider range of exercises and drills. By using 3D Swing Analysis and video analysis for the purposes of reviewing what my body is doing in real time while hitting a golf ball they determined the overall characteristics of my swing had matured . This detailed review resulted not only in an individual program for mechanics of my golf swing but a strength and conditioning program based on my body's real time characteristics, a nutrition program based on my needs today and a mental conditioning program. A thoroughly holistic approach to integrated sports science support their individual training programs have resulted in some amazing results so far. For more details see instruction . 2008 Recap !!!!!

I played more than 24 golf events in the 08 year. (some basketball too!!!) It was a year with only 2 (1 injury plagued) events outside the top 4. The 14 first place finish's are a great accomplishment !!! Quality verses quantity was the theme to 2008 in picking places to play, events to propagate and tours to play. Not all tours are created equal !!!!! All updates through December 30, 2008 will be complete by the January 15th 2009.
Here are some of the highlights of 2008 in more detail
Multiple wins in San Diego's Future Champions Tour including (74-72) winning overall and (3) overall titles. I was also Player of the Year for 2008.At 12 I was the youngest of all point winners and participants.
NCGA 2 overall wins including at Hunters Ranch (37-73 110 total). I was 3rd in player of the year points for 2008 despite not playing high school golf who's participants get NCGA points.
One of the youngest ever Medalist's at the 2008 California Women's Championship at Quail lodge (71-75) and got to the semifinals of that event for the second straight year. At 12 I was the youngest of all participants.
Multiple First Tee of Sacramento overall wins including 74 at Spanos and 69 (3 under) at Brookside. I also had the lowest stroke average amongst all the girls 12-18 at 75.
USGA Junior Girls in Hartford Ct (84-74). One of only 2 girls under the age of 13.
A trip to Canada to play for a CKG Golf Team. Won all my match's and competed in the 12-18 year old division
3 JGANC wins this year including a 70-71 3 under at the Phil Marksley. I was 12 when I won this overall title and as a result also won the Cameron Tinder Award given to the youngest participant at the Tournament of Champions.
My CYO Basketball National team went 3 – 0 and won the MVP Flight Turkey Shoot Tournament ! OPPPS that's not golf but still a win !!!!!
*** My Junior Golf Scoreboard ranking has moved up over 200 places to 213 as of 1/08/09. I am 11th in my graduating class of 2013.***

Turkey Shoot-Out 3-0
71-75 Medalist -2008 California Women's Amateur Championship
74-72 70-71 74 69
1. San Diego Junior Amateur - Callaway Golf Challenge Tour - Sycuan Resort - Oak Glen - El Cajon CA - January 12, &13, 2008
I entered this new event for in the 13-14 year old division. This was the first event of the year for me after a few weeks off. It was a very well organized event with no funny rulings as I had experienced with the other San Diego based tour. After a playoff due to a 4 way tie Courtney Hooton won on the 3rd hole. It was the first playoff I ever lost. Congratulations to Courtney and the rest of the players tied for first. This is defiantly an event I hope to go back to later this year
2. The First Tee of Sacramento - TFTGS Junior Points Championship - Timber Creek Golf Club - Roseville CA - February 9, 2008
(SORT OF)
After many years at Whitney Oaks this event moved to the more user friendly Timber Creek. Although scoring was not great it was a fun way to get the year rolling. Congratulations to the overall winners a tie between Brianna Moa and first time winner Sagee Palavivatana both with a 77. I did win my age group with a 79 but really struggled to work the ball off the tee left to right from relatively short yardage !!! I am going back to a draw!!!! By the way all of the volunteers and organizers made all the participants feel like kings and queens.
3. President's Weekend Championship - Callaway Golf Challenge Tour - Double Tree Resort - San Diego CA - February 17 &18, 2008
This also was a first time event put on by Chris Smeal and his new tour. It was a very well organized event with no funny rulings as I had experienced with the other San Diego based tour. This time I won outright . Congratulations to all the winners and participants it was a great event.
4. San Francisco City Women Championships - Harding Park - San Francisco, CA - February 24, 2008, March 1-2, 2008
This was a great experience. I did realize they play in all conditions rain wind ect at this event. But I had now way of knowing what constituted inclement weather in the committee's mind. I had practiced chipping from puddles and putting with different club on a green with a little more water than would be the normal to get ready. It was the first time I played a tournament with a golf bag full of water (rain). What a great experience. I made it the championship divisions round of 16 only to lose to Kelly Wilson on the 19th hole Congratulations to Emily Childs the Womens Championship flight winner and Linda Brown the Juli Inkster flight champion.
5. Poppy Hills Junior Championship - NCGA Junior Tour - Poppy Hills Golf Course - Pebble Beach, CA - March 4 and 5, 2008
This was a great experience and another first time event. The NCGA this year had decided to help out junior golf in California by organizing a new junior tour. As the largest (by member) golf organization of its kind probably in the world it was a great idea and very well supported by its members. John Vander Borght and the rest of the NCGA officials did a great job of putting on a first class event at a world class venue. Congratulations to my friends Tessa The and Hanna Suh on winning the the 15-18 and 12-14 year old age groups respectively. My 4th place finish was disappointing having been striking the ball so well but is still a respectable showing inside the top 5.
6. Castlewood Junior Tournament - JGANC - Castlewood CC - Pleasanton, CA, March 24-25, 2008
Things getting a little better. Still struggling with growing taller as was the case last year. This was my first JGANC competition in the groups that play 18 holes. Having challenged for the overall lead on day 1 on the harder Hill course I fell back to disappointing tie for forth with my friend Hanna Suh on the easier Valley curse. This tournament as always is one on the best JGANC tournaments on the calendar. The golf course was in amazing shape considering all the bad weather. Congratulation to the girls overall winner Tiffany Lim.
7. Peninsula Junior Championship - NCGA Junior Tour - Poplar Creek Golf Course - San Mateo, CA - April 5 and 6, 2008
This was a great experience and at another first time event. John Vander Borght and the rest of the NCGA officials did a great job of putting on a first class event again despite the poor weather conditions. I could not convince myself on the first day a 9 iron only goes 100 yards into the wind and 150 yards with the wind. With a that said my second round 1 under 71 made winning the 12-14 year old age group very satisfying mainly due to inclement weather .
8. Northern California Short Course Championship - JGANC- Santa Rosa Fairgrounds - Santa Rosa, Ca - April 26, 2008
Another great event put on by Bob Cazet and his amazing volunteers. Some of these volunteers play for Bob on a high school football team. I would name it if I could remember, however these kids are great. As a large amount of fun was had by all. This was a great short course to play and practice short game play. By the way I think I shot a 60?
9. Bing Maloney Junior Golf Tournament- The First Tee of Sacramento - Bing Maloney Golf Course - Sacramento, Ca - May 3, 2008
Great tournament, great play, great fun , bad scoring with a very poor 77. All in all a day to learn and reflect from. Thanks to Tom Morton for hosting a great event.
10. Sacramento City Woman's Championship - The Sacramento Golf Council Ancil Hoffman Golf Course - Sacramento, Ca - May 17-18, 2008
Great tournament, great play, great fun , bad scoring with a very poor scoring . All in all a day to learn and reflect from. Thanks to Sacramento Golf Council for a great event.
11. The First Tee of Sacramento - Bartley Cavanaugh Junior Championship- Bartley Cavanaugh- Sacramento CA - May 31, 2008
I love participating in First Tee events. Angie and the whole group do a great job of providing a safe environment for all the participants. Although scoring was not great it was fun. Congratulations to the overall winner Kelsey. Its nice to see someone honest win as well. I did win my age group with a 78 but really struggled to work the ball off the tee left to right from relatively short yardage !!! I am going back to a draw!!!! This was my last event before a trip to Florida . I know what I need to work on now!!!!!!
12. Junior Elite Camp - Jim Mclean Golf School - Doral Resort - Miami Florida - June16-20, 2008
This was not a tournament but what an experience. Although out of my element being away for the first time it was great experience. Rob and Karen were nice enough to let me stay at there house and it seemed to be a great learning experience for all of us. Next time I will be a neater though. The golf school was awesome Mr. Farnsworth was an amazing instructor. The assistants were fine great as well.
13. USGA Junior Girls Qualifier - Merced Country Club - Merced, CA - June 23, 2008
3rd time lucky. I finally made it to a USGA national event. Shooting a 78 was not half the story. The double on my second to last hole almost sent me home again without a chance to go to Ct. However our newest team member in caddy Steven Shetler kept me calm and allowed me to forget the double and one putt to qualify. Merced was a difficult golf course with some interesting winds effecting not only ball flight but putting as well. OFF TO HARTFORD !!!!!!!! Congratulations to all the other qualifiers as well.
14. 58th California Junior State Championships - Monterey Peninsula Country Club - Pebble Beach CA - July 1-3, 2008
(SORT OF)
The golf course was awesome again. Having played only 9 holes in the Starlet Division previously it was a great experience and honor to play 18 holes as a 12 year old. This was the first year the committee allowed 12 year olds to play 18 holes. This year I counted and recounted my clubs as to not give up 4 strokes due to penalty. I still always practice with 4 wedges and take one out depending on course conditions. Last year I forgot to take one out in finishing second after a 4 stroke penalty. I won the consolation division (Helen Lagerfeld) this year after hacking my way out of the top 32. I did win all my match's however (11-1 in match play ) With 7 birdies including the last 3 holes in the final I was having a great time and am ready to challenge next year. Congratulations to my new friend T.J. Kliebphibat on being the 2008 Girls Champion. Thanks to Sally and the rest CWAC for hosting a great event and thanks to Ryan for the putting lesson.
15. AJGA Qualifier - Lone Tree Golf Course - Antioch CA - July 5, 2008
My very first AJGA event of any kind. Shooting 42 36 was not very good however surprisingly enough I did not finish that far out. I think 2 strokes out of a qualifying spot. It was by far the best run private event The golf course was awesome having never before played it it was a great experience. Congratulations to my friend Blair Lewis in finishing first overall with an even par 72 finish. No cheating grandparents to distract at this event.
16. USGA Woman's Amateur qualifying - Peach Tree Country Club - Marysville CA - July 14, 2008
No comment. Played poorly hit the ball great
17. USGA Junior Girls - The Hartford Golf Club - West Hartford, CT - June 21-26, 2008
WOW !!!!!!!!! This was the most fun I has veer had at any event anywhere This was my first USGA national event and i hope it will not be my last. Shooting a 84 the first day was very humbling shooting 74 the second day was an awesome feeling. After starting out nervous and 10 over on the back nine on my first nine holes I relaxed for the remanded of the 27 holes of qualifying at plus 5. Congratulations to my friend Alexis for winning her first USGA event .
18. Phil Mars key Championship - JGANC- Haggin Oaks Golf Complex - Sacramento, CA - July 30-31, 2008
An amazing 2 days. The 70-71 2 day total was fun to play. Both days included 2 -3 putts each day. Congratulations to Peggy and the volunteers from the NCGA and the Sacramento Golf Counsel for their participation and help They are all amazing volunteers and helped with one of the best junior events put on in Northern California.
19. NCGA Junior Championships - NCGA - Lake Merced CC - San Francisco, CA - August 4 and 5, 2008
This was a great experience and another first time event for me. The NCGA this year had decided to help out junior golf in California by organizing a new junior tour. This event was something like the 80th annual such event and although not part of the tour was run like only the NCGA can. The golf course was amazing even though my play was not. The highest scores of the entire 2008 were the end result here. Just one on those weekends that would have been easily forgotten if not for the internet and my dad. As the largest (by member) golf organization of its kind probably in the world it was a great idea and very well supported by its members. John Vander Borght and the rest of the NCGA officials did a great job of putting on a first class event at a world class venue. Congratulations to the overall winners
20. The First Tee of Sacramento - EC Consulting TFTGS Championship - Spanos Golf Couse - Stockton, CA - August 7, 2008
I had never played at Spanos before in any event. That being said it was a great event at a fun venue. The wind was down this day but the greens and conditions were still very challenging. Although scoring was not great my 74 and overall win was fun. By the way all of the volunteers and organizers made all the participants feel like kings and queens. Thanks to Spanos Golf Course and The First tee for putting on a great event for all us kids!!!!
21. The First Tee of Sacramento - Auburn TFTGS Championship - Auburn CC - Auburn, CA - August 11, 2008
I had never played at Auburn CC before in any event. That being said it was a great event at a fun venue. The golf course was fun and the greens were mean!!! I was trying new things on the course during play to see if I could accomplish certain things with the golf ball. Some things worked some did not Although scoring was not great my 74 and overall win was fun. By the way all of the volunteers and organizers were great again. Thanks to Auburn CC and The First tee for putting on a great event for all us kids!!!!
22. Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour- Canadian Friendship Cup - Northview Golf and Country Club - Surrey B.C. - August 20-22, 2008
Having played in Canada only one time before, in 2005 I think, I knew how hospitable the Canadian people would be. What I did not realize is how much fun meeting people from other countries would be and how nice Eve Bonham was with the CKG team was. It was a blast despite the aggravation of the team USA coach's. Both Parrish and DeChambeau showed an interesting lack of tact. See my blog for a great example of why kids chose different paths based on honesty and who is picked for any team. Integrity and honesty counts!!!. I won all my match's but our team finished 3rd overall . Finishing 3rd was disappointing but I met many new friends and learned to swear in Spanish (do not tell my dad about the swear part). I put the first place banner on this event because we all finished 1st regardless of where our teams finished officially. ( I also won long drive and closets to the pin !!!!!) By the way all of the volunteers and organizers were great. Thanks to Northview Golf and Country Club for hosting a great event for all us kids!!!! The pictures of my new friends will be posted by the 30th
Still more to come !!!! I can only have this typed so fast !!!
